Reports that the editor-in-chief of Top Gear,

Michael Harvey, is stepping down from his post have now been confirmed. Sort of. According to correspondence received from Harvey and the BBC by our El Camino-lovin’ compatriots over at Jalopnik, Harvey will be resigning as editor-in-chief in favor of a more flexible position as Editorial Consultant and an as-yet undisclosed new part-time position on this side of the Atlantic.

Over the course of his six-year tenure, Harvey achieved unprecedented success in expanding the publication. Top Gear magazine’s creative director Charlie Turner will be moving into Harvey’s office temporarily while they search for a new chief, so feel free to write in and let them know which of your favorite Autoblog editors or contributors you’d most like to see deported to the UK in the newly vacated position.
